AB Utenos Trikotažas is the largest textile company not only in Lithuania, but also in Eastern and Central Europe. It was established on July 25, 1967. The company performs the entire product production cycle starting from knitwear production and dyeing to production of outer knitwear clothing. It is one of the most efficient companies of the group, which has found its niche production of high added value products. Main competitive advantages of the company are as follows: complete production cycle, continuous investment in production automation and modernisation, innovations, flexibility, adherence to the order completion deadlines, and efficient communication with buyers.
On June 1, 1999, shares of AB Utenos Trikotazas were inserted in the Official Trading List of the Lithuanian National Stock Exchange. In the same year, the company received ISO 9001 quality management system certificate. In 2001, the company was granted ISO 14001 environmental management system certificate. In 2005, the EU environmental label EU Flower was granted to the company, and in 2006 the Social Responsibility Standard SA 8000. Utenos Trikotažas is the first Lithuanian company to have implemented the latter.
The company exports about 90 per cent of its produce. Main clients of Utenos Trikotažas include major Western European retail chains operating in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Poland, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, UK, Switzerland, Belgium, etc.
